Meet the Presenters

Anja Schellenbauer

Associate Director and Head of Sustainability, Conran and Partners

As an architect and designer, Anja has focussed her work on breathing new life into existing, underperforming buildings and creating places where people love to live and work.

Amongst other projects, Anja has focussed her efforts on the reinvention of London’s Centre Point Tower, enjoying the complexity and unusual technical challenges imposed by the existing innovative structure that has afforded Centre Point its Grade II listing. Centre Point won the BREEAM award in the Home Post Construction category for its positive impact on environmental and cultural sustainability. The Energy Efficiency Rating exceeded the minimum standard required for an Outstanding rating, demonstrating to what extent even existing listed buildings can be upgraded towards zero carbon.

More recently, Anja’s designs include Conran and Partner’s own new studio in Clerkenwell with a new approach to workplace design.

As Head of Sustainability and Certified Passivhaus Designer, Anja spearheads Conran and Partners’ joint effort approach to sustainable design. She leads C&P’s knowledge-sharing and internal research initiatives, including the Material Research Lab, and brings a highly considered and holistic sustainability approach to any project. She is a member of the Sustainable Design Collective and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience more widely at external events.

Lily Riley

Interior Designer, Conran and Partners

Lily is a graduate of Nottingham Trent university. She joined Conran and Partners as an Interior Designer two years ago, working primarily with on UK based large-scale projects incorporating C&P’s lifestyle and wellbeing approach into residential design.

Her interest in biophilic design began when she started researching the subject for C&P’s In House Bite-Size Sustainability CPD series. As part of C&P’s Sustainability Strategy, members of the team take it in turn to delve into a topic of interest under the sustainability umbrella and share their research with the wider studio. Her presentation on biophilic design was well received by the studio and subsequently developed with C&P’s Material Research Lab and adapted for a Women In Office Design event.
